I would suggest a pedal like this... I bought some just like it, and they work great if your going around town... They allow you to hope on with regular shoes and they allow you to wear clips... The double sided pedals allow for good traffic riding when having to disconnect constantly it can be troublesome especially if you like a tight tension on the clip and it becomes difficult to quickly disconnect.

I just bought a Tommaso Monza ans was wondering if I should get these pedals or the VP 399T Road Bike Pedals. I can't afford the more expensive cleats right now so I was wondering which would be better.

I would recommend VP x93's if you're looking for a pedal that you can ride with street shoes as well as a mountain bike style shoe with SPD compatible two bolt cleats. If you're looking for a great inexpensive road pedal I would recommend the VP R80 clipless road pedal. The VP R80's use a road specific, three bolt cleat, the Look delta. The VP 399T is an another inexpensive option if you're looking for a non-clipless pedal.
