decent MTB pedal

I actually got this pedal for my road bike and have not been happy. Using road shoes leaves a lot of 'slop' on either side of the cleat. This allows a fair amount of side to side rocking which I find at best disconcerting. Having used SPD pedals for the last decade I am fairly comfortable with the movements required. Have not gotten stuck in my pedals in many years. Until now. Could not get my foot completely unclipped at a stop sign and got bloody.
If I had not used the pedals already and marred them with that use I would return them for something else.

The VP M11 pedals are compatible with a SPD compatible mountain bike shoe. All pedals and crank arms have the same thread pattern so you could use this pedal on either a mountain or road bike. The important thing to consider with this pedal in what type of shoe you would use with it. You would need a SPD shoe with a two bolt cleat attachment.
