Has a good look and doesn't feel cheap for only being $40. I was especially glad that the cleats were included! Installation was simple and I am still tweaking the feel of the tension so they won't be as difficult to clip in without losing efficiency. Overall a solid buy for those not wanting to invest a ton of money to ride their bike.

Hard to beat $40 for a set of pedals and cleats. It works well enough...on the heavy side, but specs show it's only 100 more than the high end shimano dura-ace set. It's not as secure as I would like, but it's a hundred times better than regular pedals going uphill. No more wasted effort for me!

what is throwing me off is clipless pedals? i thought all pedals you would need cleats and "clip" onto the pedals itself?

Clipless refers to the toe clip (cage) having been replaced by a locking mechanism and not to platform pedals which would normally not have toe clips. Checkout Wikinerdia..it is a plethora of gear knowledge

The VP R-70 pedals feature a 3-bolt style cleat. A compatible shoe will have 3 holes on the sole to mount this type of cleat. Here are a few examples:
