I was not sure if I should purchase this bike without actually having ridden it first. After reading the reviews and information on the bike, I decided to go for it. I am really glad I did. The performance, value, and appearance of this bike are amazing. It comes with great components, solid frame, and just preforms. I don't know if it makes me a better rider, but I tend to think it does. Everything Giant Nerd does is tops. I think you will be pleased.

I have put 300 miles on mu volo since it arrived and I could not be happier with it! It rides smooth, the SRAM Force components shift great, and the Mavic wheels cut effortlessly through the wind. I decided to pay the extra for the Genius Build and it was money very well spent. It came in a bike shipping container and all I really had to do was attach the wheels, pedals, and seat and right the handlebars. The whole process took ten minutes at most and it was a fully rideable bike afterwards. The only negative I can think of is having a non carbon seat post and handlebars as it transmits a little too much road vibration at times.

Just received my VOLO. It looks cool and rides great.

I put white Look KEO 2 Max pedals, a Selle SMP Extra seat, Kool Stop salmon colored brake pads, and Michelin Krylion tires with the red stripe on it - cost a bit more, but it made the bike ride that extra bit better.

Now I know that those other blurs that I see riding down the highway are fellow VOLO riders!

got my Volo last year and trained for my first century this past October. It was amazing. Got lots of questions about the Volo and I felt like I could have kept going after the finish line. Great bike, smooth, reliable and handled every road condition. Thank you Giantnerd and Tommoaso

When I opened the box the first thing I said was wow. Assembly was easy and I didnt need all the special tools the box said I would need. I put 200 miles on it the first week and I still love it. People want to ask me about this bike when im out riding but its hard to talk when im blowing by them. Im very happy with this bike.

I bought this bike after several weeks of researching several bikes with comparable components. After test riding several high end Trek Madones I decided I wanted the SRAM Force component group. For me the hand positioning feels better than the Shimano Ultegra 6700 shifters.

With so many great features: Force group, tapered head tube, large bottom bracket, and such I kept coming back to the Volo. I was nervous about dealing with a mail order company, but with Giant Nerd's return policy I figured I would take a chance. As I figured it, I was only out $50 if I tried it and didn't like it.

One thing that was a major surprise. . . the pictures on the web site are pretty poor. You can't tell how substantial the head tube is. Nor can you tell how large the diameter of the bottom tube is. This bike is so much better looking in real life. I have had the bike about a week and have taken it on several 20 mile rides. There is no flex in the bottom bracket nor in other undesirable locations.

After my first week of riding I had to adjust my derailleur cables last night. Simple adjustment of the cam screws. I am loving the SRAM Force shifting.

Bottom line: This bike ride every bit as well as the bikes I tested for a lot less money. The Treks I was looking at were $4k on sale. They did have the full force package group, but not a big deal there as the big expense is in the shifters. The cranks and brakes are a minor expense in comparison and don't add a huge performance gain.

A very nice bike at a very nice price point.

I have been an avid road cyclist for 6 years now. My last bike was a Specialized Allez. I really liked it but decided it was time for a full carbon ride. I test rode several bikes in the $2000 range, they were ok, but I believe you should ride the bike and know this is the one! I didn't get that feeling with any of them (Giant, Specialized, Felt). I think some of it had to do with the components. Anyway, I know a lot of people say never buy something you can't test ride first. I kept reading great reviews about Tommaso and did a lot of research on the company (Facebook, etc...) All great feedback! I finally decided it was all about taking a leap of faith (and i figured if the bike sucked Giantnerd has a great return policy). So I purchased the Volo 1.0. Before it shipped the 2.0 was released. I called and customer support switched my order to the 2.0 with no problems. I consider that awesome customer service. So the bike finally arrived in a really nice box which definitely can be used again. I put it together in about 10 minutes and was off riding that evening. I rode around the block and would stop back at my house to make small adjustments to properly fit it. It wasn't too long that everything felt great. Here is the best part: I had that feeling after riding it that I knew this is the bike!! It was fast, felt comfortable, great control, coasted great and of course it looks great. I am a completely satisfied customer today! This bike blows away any of the other bikes I was looking at and it came for less money with better components. I truly recommend this bike, I would compare it to $5000 bikes easily!

Just took my Volo down the California Coast 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of the SF AIDS Foundation AIDS LifeCycle event. What an absolute joy - a week on my bike, and a great event. We raised $13 Million for SFAF and the LA **** and Lesbian center, took 2400 cyclists through beautiful California scenery and had a blast! My Volo served me incredibly well, and I can't tell you how pleased I am with it's performance over the past year. Solid, stellar performance. Stunningly beautiful piece of machinery. I ride competatively in Virginia and this bike is the best possible bike to own if you don't have the $5000 to spend on a bike. Great components and a light carbon frame, what more could you ask for. Love the compact crank. I get all kinds of questions from people who love my Tommaso Volo. Great bike.

I just got my Volo today...less than a week after I ordered it (I was expecting the estimated 10-14 days)! Great customer service; the ordering process couldn't have been easier! I added the Genius Build so it was 90% complete when I got it. It only took 15 minutes to finish putting it together and fit it to my measurements and I was off. I haven't gotten to ride it yet...nearly 95 and horribly humid...but tomorrow I'm taking it out for a spin.

It is just what I expected and it is beautiful. I can't wait to take it out tomorrow!! Thanks GiantNerd!

I have to say I couldn't be more pleased with my Volo. The bike has been reliable, and a joy to ride. I am constantly being asked about my bike because it is simply so stunning to look at, when it was new and shiny and even grimy after 100 miles. It's far and away the best bike for the money and I am still stunned that people still choose to go and spend more and get less. I love the SRAM Force components more than I ever thought possible. My only regret is not getting this beautiful piece of equipment sooner.

As others have indicated this is truly an awesome bike. The carbon frame shines in the sunlight and looks great with the contrasting red graphics. The bike comes with the right components to meet my needs. After finally deciding to make the purchase the bike arrived in 5 days (free shpping). Unfortunately there was minor damage to the crank arm. The crank arm broke through the cardboard box and the paint was scraped to bare metal. The FedEx driver asked if I wanted to send it back. I took a chance and the damage is only cosmetic. After receiving my new Volo, I went to the LBS for a fitting. Even the owner of the LBS commented on how nice the Tommaso Volo is; both in appearance and component setup. Although I am an occassional rider I feel like a pro when riding this bike. I can honestly say, "No buyer remorse here". Thank you Tommaso and Giantnerd for making this bike available at an excellent price; you are equally as awesome as the Volo.

My new Tommaso Volo is an amazing ride. Super light with great components. When I'm on the road, it feels like the bike moves effortlessly and has a lot of power behind it. This was a great purchase. See you at the finish line.

I got my new Volo last Thanksgiving and I wanted to walk in some miles before I make this review. I have to admit that I was in love of this bike at first sight and after almost 5 months riding it i feel more in love every day ;-).
I got the bike in 4 days and ready to go in 20 minutes (thanks Giantnerd guys!!!). The bike is amazing. Since first day, after a race when I go back to my garage there is only a thought in my mind.... "the next race".
The SRAM-force components and the carbon frame makes every race the most amazing experience.
I have to say that I completed my first 80 miles race last weekend and my Volo didn't disappoint me... my next goal is a 100 miles race...

Hands down this is probably the best deal you can get for your money. Its light, its fast, and its smoooth. I cant believe I almost paid over 2grand for a bike that doesn't even compare at my LBS. I'm all for supporting local bike stores and keeping them in business, but ill have tune ups done there, and save a load by buying my bike here! The SRAM Force components are awesome and worth as much as the bike costs. Doubletap is crisp and fast. Only downsides are aluminum seatpost, stem, and handlebars, and the lack of the matching sram force crankset, which giantnerd happened to have on sale cheaper than anybody else! Probuild installed it for me also! I slapped on some profile design areobars and a computer and im ready for both road biking with friends and occasionally competing in triathlons.
One last thing to note... the bike looks WAY better in person, the 12k carbon is really visible and the frame is fatter than it looks in the pictures. This is one SWEET ride!

I have always wanted a carbon fiber road bike...so I started shopping after I got my tax return back,just to find that they were extremely outta my price range. That is until I Googled around and stumbled upon Giantnerd! There it was....a c...hunky framed raw carbon frame with GREAT components at less than half of what carbon bikes were going for with junk attached to them at other "discount" sites....a "Demo" Tommaso Volo....in my size!!! Whats the odds of finding a demo in a 56?!?! Extremely excited I ordered right away!Couple days go by and I logged in once again to check my order status (a great feature at Giantnerd....one click and you are on the FedEx site telling you exactly where your stuff is!). Well to my disappointment,it hadn't shipped :(. Bummed, I called Giantnerd,and was told "bad news...we're extremely sorry,but the bike listed was a 54, and not a 56, it was a misprint". Heartbroken! "But good news! We will send you a brand new Volo at the same price as the demo!" Stoked!!!!

Before I knew it,the bike was on its way to my house (checking the FedEx link hourly haha). Then I realized I needed a bottle holder. Well thanks to Giantnerd's "nerd dollars" I earned @$75 in store credit! Sweet! They had this water bottle cage that was a piece of art...a matching weave,carbon fiber water bottle cage....for $50!!! Expensive as far as something as dumb as holding a .99 cent piece of plastic that holds water goes,but visually appealing to say the least. After realizing that I had more than enough in Nerd dollars,I ordered that bad boy up! Who cares?!?! Its like money I never had anyways bc its store credit! Still having free money to spend,I ordered a light for the front so I can ride into the night...

I received my VOLO in this past July and have over 800 miles on it. No complaints, just praise. Riding is so much more fun on a VOLO! I love hills now! The SRAM components were the right choice for me. I can't say enough good things about my shopping experience with GiantNerd. Thank you for offering such a great bike at an affordable price. This is a bike for people who love to ride!

I received my Volo just over two weeks ago. I've already been out for several rides. This truly is a great bike. The carbon frame makes every ride very smooth. The SRAM components are fantastic, shifting is a breeze. I rode a couple of bikes before purchasing the VOLO. The bikes i rode were very nice, more expensive than the VOLO but not as well equiped. Looking at the components and frame of the VOLO I just could not pass it up.

I of course paid for the pro-build. They did a good job, but still I had to make a couple minor adjustments. The rear derailer alignment was off just slightly causing chain noise. Once I got that corrected all was good.

My biggest concern on purchasing this bike was buying it online. It's a big purchase for me but I wanted the best bike I could get for my money. I had never heard of GiantNerd before. I submitted a question to the site and to my surprise I received a response within a couple of hours. I also did some google searches looking for anything to confirm my fears about buying online. Part of my concern was the VOLO just seemed to good for the price. Everything I found was positive so now I own a VOLO and now I'm also a big GiantNerd.

I keep looking around to see if the "that bike's way too nice for you" police are going to show up at my door. I agree with an earlier review on this site that, as nice as they are, the photo's just don't do the bike, particularly the frame justice.

For my Volo order I got the pro build service and it was well worth it. I just finished the first 200 miles on it Thursday of this week and there is not much adjusting I need to do. Even got a new set of allen wrenches with the bike, assembly was very simple.

The only problem I am working on is the front derailleur is a little off, but my in-house mechanic (me) is dead set on working through the adjustment so I won't have to pay to have it done in the future.

I swapped out the standard SRAM crankset instead of the compact because I live on the plains (Minnesota) so there isnt' much climbing. I have both and plan on trying the compact out at some point.

I had a lot of questions and used both the NerdChat and called on the phone and the folks there were extremely helpful.

I am extremely pleased with not only my Tommaso Volo, but with GiantNerd's customer service. The bike was packed and shipped quickly, and with the ProBuild I had the bike ready to ride in about 30 minutes. Had to do some additional tightening here and there, (crank arm bolts for me, too) but nothing much.

The bike itself is a stellar value, and a great performer. I have NO regrets about this purchase. Everywhere I go, people ask me about the bike, so I'll continue telling everyone how happy I am with Giantnerd and my Volo.

I have to admit, I was hooked on the Volo from first sight. I've always been a sucker for the oversized carbon tube look, and being able to get that at an affordable price, with a great SRAM Force package was pretty much a no-brainer for me.

Having received the bike, I was immediately impressed with the box and packaging. Very minimalist -- MUCH less packing materials needed than other bikes. The box is reusable, which is a bonus as well. I paid for the ProBuild, which has the bike arrive nearly completely assembled. All I had to do was attach pedals, the handlebars, and front wheel. My one complaint about the ProBuild is that it wasn't quite "pro". I found that I had a lot of creaking in the bike upon first ride. Ultimately it turned out to be really simple things -- the headset and crank arm bolts were under torqued. I had a more annoying creak coming from inside the head tube, and I eventually had to remove the fork and clean and lightly grease the bearing cups to get it to go away. Finally, one of my brake pads was adjusted too high, and it started to create uneven wear on the pad. Those minor issues aside, I was happy with how it arrived.

The ride and performance of the bike itself is really superb. It is nimble and reliable (I've taken it racing). It climbs so smoothly, and descends with confidence (Over 50 MPH!). SRAM Force was a great choice, however I wish Tommaso decided to stick with the stock SRAM crank instead of the cheaper FSA Gossamer one. I think most people would be more than happy to plunk down the extra coin for the better component, and I'm already planning on doing so.

In closing, I'm VERY glad I made this purchase, and I look forward to many many more miles on my Volo.

As the Product Manager for Tommaso I get to ride a lot of bikes. I've been putting a ton of miles on the Tommaso Volo. I was drawn to the SRAM Force components and I am a fan (especially at 12% grades) of the compact crank. The frame just drill it when I step on the gas and going down the other side of the mountain is like a fast roller coaster. The bike is light and snappy with no signs of being a noodle. The 12K weave is a killer look that people in the pack comment on all the time. For what Giantnerd sells this bike for you can get two! One for the sunny days and one to be used as the infamous "rain bike" we all swear to our spouses we need. Great bike at a price that will leave you with plenty of change for matching helmet and shoes. Hey, riding good is all about looking good!
