As a beginner, I wanted a good quality shoe that would fit my needs and my budget. I use these shoes at spin class at the gym and on my road bike which I inherited with SPD petals. After three months, I would have to say that these shoes are perfect for a beginner. Easy to get on, comfortable on my rides and a great value from Giantnerd. I guess I could have paid twice as much for some fancy shmancy shoes with carbon and lasers in the toes, but since my feet and my bike don't know the difference, I'm sticking with these for a while!

I bought these as a dedicated spin shoes since the price point ($80) for feature ratio was quite good in comparison to other shoes. That being said I am now a firm believer that each shoe manufacturer makes a shoe that optimally fits a certain foot type. My dedicated road shoes are 4 year old Diadora's - they fit me like a glove. These Shimano's have a true to size fit but have a wider toe box. I am a 10.5 and got the size 45. There is more room in the toe box area than I would care for - but for spin shoes I just wear a thicker sock- I would not use these on the road however. One other dislike is that the inner part of the shoe by the ankle rides sort of high and rubs against my ankle - I am hoping it will be less noticeable as they break in.
Other than those 2 issues the shoes are fine and a real bargain for spin class.
If this is the first time you are buying a cycling shoe and want to get the optimal shoe for your foot type do yourself a big favor and go to brick and mortar cycling store and try on different shoes from different manufacturers.

These Shoes are a solid buy for the money. I think with Shimano shoes you get the best bang for your buck. I appreciate the compatibility with both 2 bolt and 3 bolt cleats on this shoe. I have to admit I feel a little more flex from the soleplate vs. my 3 bolt cleat Shimano carbon road shoes but not enough that it's a deal breaker. I've had these set up in 3 bolt and 2 bolt cleats and they have worked great in both. The sole plate marks and scars easily in my opinion, since I exclusively use these as training shoes and casual ride shoes, I don't take the best care of them. Very comfortable and functional. Although, for racing I'd look for something with a stiffer soleplate...

This is the first pair of road bike shoes I've owned. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to find shoes that actually fit me because I have size 13 (US) and slightly wide. I could not believe how comfortable these shoes are. I bought a size 48 and they fit perfectly. The first use was an easy 25 mile ride and the only discomfort I had at the end was some "seat" soreness. I had no blisters, numbness, rubbing, soreness or any other discomfort with the shoes. Top buckle is great for getting that snug fit. I love them and can't say enough about them!

Again cant say enough on how great these shoes are. Just finished my first long race in them and my feet felt great the entirety of the race.

I have only biked in these a few times but they have completely changed how i ride. the angle i now have my foot at seems to really have changed my performance.

This is my first Clip-less shoe, after riding for a year using some old Nike trail running shoes. This shoe is going to change the way I ride, I will be getting all the bang for my buck, I say buy these shoe it will make you one with you bike. Looking forward to my riding season using these shoes.

I tried these on and the bike shop let me go a couple miles on the trainer with them and they are a lot less expensive on this site.

I bought these to go with a pair of Shimano SPDL pedals. They work great. As you notice they do hav a little hole at the front of the shoe. On cold days your feet will get cold. Just wear some extra socks. I have no complaints other than I probably bought them a little big. I wear 11 and bought the 46, should have gone 45. Still not a bad fit though. The top buckle works perfect for getting the shoes nice and snug.
