Ok if keep you keep them well maintained and clean of derby. Extremely dangerous if you ride in muddy conditions. The mud shedding abilities are pretty poor and moisture makes unhitching unreliable. As long as you keep the springs clean they are pretty reliable. But if you pack them with mud or give them a chance to rust after a rain shower they are pretty unreliable. The amount of force required to unhitch becomes inconsistent and has a tendency to bind.

Hello,
I am leaning towards buying these pedals, versus the Shimano PD-M324s because these are lighter and are SPD double sided. Assuming I ride my bike with bike shoes 80% of the time, would I able to wear regular tennis shoes for the other 20% of the time? If not, may I have a reason why?

You can ride with your normal tennis shoes on your bike, but I wouldn't do anything technical. Your feet will slip off of the pedals very easily, and it isn't very comfortable without being clipped in.

REGARDING PEDALS: I am interested in purchasing mountain bike SPD pedals for my road bike that I will be purchasing. I am either going to get the Shimano PD-M520s ( http://www.giantnerd.com/shimano-pd-m520-spd-mountain-bike-pedals.html ) or the Shimano PD-M324s ( http://www.giantnerd.com/shimano-pd-m324-spd-dual-platform-mountain.html ). Now, I am a 14 year old who is just getting into cycling, and do not plan to ride with specialized bike shoes all the time. Although, I will ride clipped-in a lot. What pedal do you think will suit my needs best? Thanks.

Hi Josh,
Both of these pedals are awesome! If you think you will be riding 50/50 cycling shoes and street shoes than go with the dual platform pedal.
