WikiNerdia is a resource offered by Giantnerd® in an effort to help build a community where everyone can share knowledge in an open and honest way about products, brands, and terminology. This is a call out to all nerds in the know; help out the less experienced adventurers, pass your knowledge on or it will be lost forever! Add to it and make edits as you see fit. As with everywhere else on Giantnerd®, your collaboration will shape the way members treat and view products, categories, and the outdoor lifestyle—it’s critical to making the Giantnerd® community the best shopping site on the social web!
Many protable camping stoves require priming to preheat the burner. To ingnite the stove, the burner is first turned on to allow a small amount of fuel to collect in the priming pan. The fuel supply is then stopped and the fuel is then ignited to warm and preheat the burner. When the fuel has burned off the fuel can then be turned back on where its vaporized and can pass through the jets for ignition and cooking.
