I'm fairly new to road biking, so I don't really notice any faults with these. Personally, I think all road bike shorts are a little awkward. I'm still in that "wearing them like underwear" phase.

When I first put these shorts on they felt really comfortable. Then I looked in the mirror and saw how far my butt was sticking out. The pad is so thick on the back that it makes the shorts look really stupid. Why would anyone need such a thick pad on their lower back anyway?

all in all these are good shorts. the only complaint i have is that the pad is a little far up the back. for riders who sit more toward the nose of their saddle i wouldn't recommend these as the pad tends to stick up a little and feels slightly awkward. other than that however they are great shorts and i would recommend them to any beginner
