I first twigged on this jacket because it was 1) very bright, and 2) light weight. It is definitely both. Don't be an idiot and ride in the cold winter (and grey) climes without wearing very bright clothing. The number 1 thing motorists claim when they run a rider over is that they never saw him/her. The number 2 is they didn't realize the rider as moving that fast. If you wear dark/grey clothing your life will be immeasurably brightened by the flowers people bring you in the hospital.

I wasn't too thrilled about the jacket being convertible, mostly because I couldn't tell from the pictures how this would work. The sleeves are a raglan cut, and I didn't get how they would detach. Once I got it home I was very please with the design. What was needed was a shot of the back of the jacket. The zippers run from armpit to neck along the front, and the sleeves detach as one single piece held together by the vent flap that runs across the top of the back- which you can't see in the photo. It is actually very ingenious how this is done. Back pockets are included to store the sleeves if you take them off.

All zippers are held shut by a small velcro flap. The sleeves are plenty long enough, and the back generously covers you so you don't look like a plumber when hunched over the bars.

It's on sale and only $14 more than the non-convertible barrier jacket. This was an excellent purchase, and is going to be well used until the sun warms the frozen north again. Soon.
