No, this is a road bike pedal so it is only compatible with road shoes that have a three hole pattern.

The Shimano SH-r087 GE road bike shoes will work great with the Shimano r-540 pedals and any road bike pedals that accepts a 3-bolt cleat.

Clipless pedals work when a bike shoe with the pedal's specific cleat are stepped into the pedal. Most clipless systems require the rider to step in with the front of the cleat first and then stepping down firmly. To disengage from the pedal the rider simply twists their ankle. The Shimano R-540 pedals feature adjustable spring tension so you can turn down the resistance while you're learning so its easy to get in and out. Cycling shoes have rigid soles to maximize power transfer and efficiency.

All of our clipless pedals come with cleats including the Shimano r-540 road bikes pedals.

Just keep in mind that clipless road bike cleats wear out from general usage as well as from walking on them so you will eventually find yourself having to buy another set of cleats.
