any pack that doesn't have an adjustable torso has a few pros and con. The pro's, the pack doesn't loosen or have a strange pull from the loose shoulder straps. con, you can't adjust it very much to fit your torso. On some larger packs you have load lifter that give you a little more range of adjustment (make the shoulder straps more comfortable), but on this pack the load lifter do not pull above the pack they basically pull horizontal to your shoulder and keep the pack against your back (only minimal lifting). The side pouches hold a 40 oz steel water bottle comfortably and securely when running, I am also able to take the water bottle out and put it back in with out removing the pack. The waist belt tightens from the pack, not the buckle, but the buckles are small, so they might be difficult to work with heavy gloves. The bags material is very strong and the hard back panel lets you throw stuff in the bag on the go and not worry about it poking you in the back. The outer stow pocket is good but it should have stretchy fabric of some sort. it would hold larger amounts more securely that way. The bag has three compartments which makes every day use for organizing very nice. The hydration blader is in a compartment of is own, no zippers, its right against your back. Load lifter help keep the blader compartment closed. Compression straps on this bag do a good job, not great, of holding everything in place when running, and the on the fly compression really helps hold things in place on fast down hill. They only time you might experience any issue is if the bag only has one small heavy item in it. If you add a tee shirt for just a little bulk your good. The waist belt could be a half inch to an inch longer to make the pockets on it more usable (it will hold a swiss army knife or some bike tools fairly easy.. cliff gel shots have to be folded to fit in).

Bottom line this isn't the lightest pack, mine weighed in a 1lb 14oz, but it is extremely versicle and durable. If you want a pack you can use for school, biking, Hiking, ultra light over night, or any combination of the above this is a great back.

I tried one of these and I could not adjust it to fit correctly. It bothered my neck and traps.
