Before Marmot became the outdoor power-haus it is today, it was once a small company that simply made goose down jackets and vests. It seems wise then to put your faith in the Marmot Zeus down jacket. The 800 Fill goose down is encased with down-proof rip-stop polyester and a draw-cord hem to ensure both heat and down stay put.

I've tried on many similar lightweight 800-fp down sweaters or jackets, including competing ones from Patagonia (Down Sweater), Mountain Hardwear (Nitrous) and EB/First Ascent (Downlight Sweater). For the value at list price or with online discounts, this Marmot Zeus is easily the best product! It may have a less trim or athletic fit, and resulting more "puffy" look than the Patagonia or MHW ones, but you get more of the down (its slightly heavier) and loft with better warmth. The quality of the materials and workmanship are equivalent. Compared to EB/FA, the amount of down and loft are similar, but the materials and quality are better, and you seem to leak less down. If you want value and quality, the Zeus is the one to get. If you want an trimmer lighter fit and don't mind less warmth, try to get the other ones on sale online. You should go with the medium. With down jackets like this it is best to make sure you have some space underneath, you don't want an insulated jacket like this to be tight like spandex.
