The new Tommaso Bestia cyclocross bike comes with plenty of testing and thought behind its spec and design. Tommaso’s own product team got out and raced, rode and suffered to make this bike and its bigger brother the carbon Tommaso Diavolo. It is a labor of love and Tommaso came up with the goods. The Bestia attacks the trail, road and race course with proven Shimano components, stiff FSA cranks, trusty Alex rims and Tommaso TRS handlebar, stem and seat post. The Tommaso Bestia (Beast) will provide miles of dependability and excitement whether commuting or racing. Cyclocross bikes are tough and the Bestia is no exception.
Consumers and the bike industry have nothing but praise for Shimano components. For the Bestia, Tommaso matched up the Shimano 105 rear derailleur with Shimano Tiagra shifters with optical display. It’s beneficial to see what gear you are in with a quick glance when ripping down the rougher roads. Putting all of this great technology in motion is the FSA compact Tempo crank. With the 50/34 gearing the FSA Tempo will take you anywhere the road or trail goes. The beauty of the compact crank is its simplicity over a heavier triple crank while supplying the user a very user-friendly gear ratio that is easier to command.
Other Tommaso Bestia highlights include the light aluminum Tommaso TRS handlebar, stem and seatpost. These components are light, strong and built to last. Tektro supplies the braking power with its CR520 aluminum cantilever brakes with plenty of mud clearance. The grip to the ground is provided by Kenda 700x35 tires. Beefy enough to take on the hard-pack trails and just right for the morning commute. So the next fire road you see shooting into the distance is your welcome sign…get out there and explore.
The Tommaso Frame
The Tommaso Bestia’s foundation is a corrosion-free proprietary aluminum frame. Tommaso uses a standard geometry and detailed tubing lengths per frame size. This ensures that the rider gets the lightest, strongest and best performing and fitting frame for the dollar. The frame design and geometry place the rider in the optimum position for steady handling and comfort. The standard geometry also opens the main triangle up to allow for shoulder carrying the bike should the course or road afford that opportunity. The Bestia has a tuned aluminum cross fork with cantilever mounts matched to the frame geometry for miles of care-free adventure.
The Tommaso Fit
Sizing a cyclocross bike is no different, or more difficult, than any other style of bike. Some riders prefer a slightly smaller size cross bike from their road bike for snappier handling. Some ride the same size as their road bike. It is a personal preference and a quick review of the size chart will provide the information you need to get the right bike. The size chart lists suggested heights for the different frame sizes. This is far more helpful in sizing a bike than standing over the top tube and pulling up on the handlebars (which tells you nothing about the fit of a bike). Tommaso offers seven sizes to accommodate riders large and small. It will be easy to find a fit for all of our customers.
The Tommaso Feel
The staff at Tommaso ride, race and believe in what they make. They approached the frame design as if they were building their own bike…in truth they were. They spent a hardcore season of cross racing this past winter in Colorado. One of the best rides to go on is the one without a destination. The weekends are great for heading out of town and exploring that dirt road that shoots off the main highway and disappears. Some of the best kept secrets begin with a gravel road and no street sign. With the Bestia you will have the confidence to travel those roads. A cyclocross bike will bring out the no limits style in your riding. The beefier tires and frame will give you the added confidence to get a little crazy out on the road or trail. This bike is no delicate flower and it wants to get dirty. The Bestia is in the middle of the road and the rugged mountains. It is the sweet spot of getting away and not seeing many cars. Find your inner adventurous side…find your beast…ride the Bestia.
