Weight and size   I just received my medium Le Tour Classic today. It weighs in at 24.2 lbs without pedals.

Weight and size   Staff says "significantly heavier" than the Le Tour Elite. What are we talking about here? Two pounds maybe! Let's put this into perspective. A pro rider is rightly going to consider that "substantial". The average recreational rider who considers that "substantial" is probably more interested in impressing others than riding.

Let's get real!

Just bought the Le Tour Classic on Giantnerd.com for $392 shipped (using the 15% "MDAY" coupon). There isn't anything out there that can touch this bike at this price! Atari King would have you believe that all three of these other sub-$400 bikes, the Gravity Liberty 1, the Dawes Lightning DLX, and the Mercier Galaxy SC3, are "technologically" superior to the Le Tour Classic. Well, I don't mean to be dramatic, but I'd be tempted give up riding before I climbed onto one of these harsh-riding, no-name, aluminum heaps! Just because they have aluminum frames and carbon forks doesn't make them better. In fact, I would argue that most aluminum bike frames that don't have carbon seatstays are actually inferior to just about any other frame material, including steel! The ONLY reason aluminum frames are so popular is because they are the cheapest to manufacture, and because so many riders have turned into weight weenies! Nevermind the fact that they all have horrible cranksets, are quite unattractive, and will have horrendous resale values the day after purchase. Here's the bottom line; any rider that plans on spending two or more hours in the saddle on any given ride is going to perform MUCH better consistently on the steel framed Le Tour than on any of these other three bikes, and that's because a comfortable rider makes for a longer lasting rider which, in turn, makes for a better performing rider. I will gladly trade the slight extra weight of a steel frame and fork for superior ride comfort all day long. Besides, the Le Tour Classic really is a beautiful thing. I mean, just look at it!!
