I'd have to agree with the tire remark. Outside of racing I'd say tires make the biggest difference on choice of terrain to ride on. Hybrids seem to be pretty nice depending on the hybrid bike though. Im looking at one right now sitting infront of me, and their isnt a whole lot of difference between it and my mountain bike. But a huge difference between it and my road bike. The weight is Terrible ..sits somewhere between 32-42lbs. Other than weight id say the Tires are the biggest difference in the ride.

I like to frankenstein a bike every now and then. I my knowledge on bikes is decent but im no expert with all the components just yet. I generally go for a decently structured frame and just upgrade everything else on it. Seems to work pretty well in my opinion.

Tommaso better then other brands?
Everyone had been telling me to spend my money on something i needed other than upgrading to a tommaso bike that had stolen my attention for some time now. After i purchased it and showed it off..the bikes gained the attention of nearly all those that were advising me to get something else with the money. Now they all tend to get themselves a tommaso bike.

Sounds like i need to get my hands on that continental gatorskin tire. I generally ride mountain bikes and have constant run ins with glass on the road / sidewalks causing me to get a flat weekly. I figure its probably in my best interest to upgrade my tires fast otherwise ill be getting flats daily on my road bike.

I don't own either type...although i have ridden my brothers steel road bike and it does pretty good on the road. Some shocks wouldn't hurt but the overall ride is still great. Ive been told it has a smoother ride than an aluminum, and if thats the case im not so sure about getting a aluminum bike unless its strictly for racing purposes.

slime I can't speak for everyone, but for me and my brother we both use these type of tires for our mountain bikes. We enjoy riding through trails that throw every type of terrain at us. With that said...these slime tires SUCK!! It usually last us around 1-2 months before springing a flat. The first flat was a mystery...we still have no idea what caused it, but the second flat occurred from the air valve. Some how they were twisted possibly from a air pump, but the entire valve came off the tube itself...This is a first in all the time I've been biking.
