I would try out different bikes at your LBS to see what you like in terms of frame size, weight, strength. Then shop around online for your preferred bike. Be warned though, if you don't assemble a bike by a professional (usually your LBS guy), then the warranty is voided. I personally bought my first hardtail ('09 Windsor Cliff 4900) at 'bikesdirect.com' Good luck with finding your bike! ~Phil
