Almost 1500 miles put on my Tommaso Superleggera since I got it on April 30th. No too shabby.

Sweet deal for a great bike!

Giantnerd Member, Donny Alonzo, provided this 5 star review of the GT Force Carbon Expert Mountain Bike: I was just browsing the net planning to purchase an MTB. When I saw this bike it was like someone read my mind because the specs was just perfect to my liking. Initially Medium and X-large was posted nevertheless I bought it even a size bigger then my optimum size. The following day they posted a small size, I called right away to have it changed, GIANTNERD peeps are awesome to change it ASAP and now i can't wait to break in my new bike.

Best "All Mountain" Bike you will ever ride

Giantnerd Member, Jose Gonzales, provided this 5 star review of the GT Force Carbon Expert Mountain Bike: This is the most fun bike I have ever owned, it gave me more confidence to go over trails that previously I was too worry to ride. The bike is versatile and tuff. It can handle anything you throw at it including jumps. Forget that its carbon, rides like a dream, climbs like a goat and rolls over obstacles with ease. Nice buttery ride feeling. Just like I like it. I would say that the combination of FOX front and rear shocks is the perfect combination for a smooth ride. The XT component make shifting an ease with no problems. I would recommend it to anybody for all mountain and all day riding in all conditions. This bike is a steal at nearly $2000 off the retail price. You wont be disappointed. You will love this bike as much as I do. Thank you Giantnerd

Great Bike

Giantnerd Member, Jacob Flinn, provided this 5 star review of the GT Force Carbon Expert Mountain Bike: The day after I got and put together my force expert a couple buddies and I headed out on a five day riding/camping trip to Arkansas. The Force dominated everything on the trail. The Carbon frame was great, it feels much more nimble and responsive compared to my old aluminum Force 2.0, the weight difference was also a huge bonus all around on the trail. The suspension was also awesome, being on a really rocky trail I keep the fork open to 150mm the whole time and then went back and forth with the pro pedal on and off the whole day depending on climbing or descending which made a noteable difference. All around i was thrilled with this bike and how it held up on 30+ miles a day of riding and cant wait to take it out again. I Also went with the pro-build which was easy to put together and everything was working great.

Awesome Bike!

Giantnerd Member, Rob Lins, provided this 5 star review of the GT Force Carbon Expert Mountain Bike: I was a little nervous about ordering a bike unseen on an internet site. As it turns out I'm really glad I did. This bike is awesome; great component package, carbon frame, great suspension. I love it. Giantnerd got it built and sent right away and I received it a few days later. The disc brake calipers were too tight to install the front wheel and I'm guessing the brake was activated without the wheel in during the build. It wasn't too hard to adjust. I'm glad I did the probuild to activate the warranty for only $59. I'm sure it would cost $200 at my LBS.

Amazing Jack of all Trades

Giantnerd Member, Bob Morris, provided this 5 star review of the GT Force Carbon Expert Mountain Bike: If you want an all around full suspension bike that can be used for any situation, then look no further than the GT Force Carbon Expert. With a full carbon frame, XT groupo and FOX Talas-R fork; you have a lightweight goat that will climb effortlessly. I have taken this bike off a few jumps this past weekend, and the FOX Talas felt like a pillow with the 6 inches of travel. Ritchey PRO bars, Thomson Elite post...this bike is just a more than perfect upper-mid level full suspension bike.

Chain Stay Length   700x25 should be no problem. 700x28 may become an issue depending on the the tire manufacturer. In other words....all tire diameters are not created equal.

VOLO    Yes, they are. These are the latest and greatest offerings from SRAM.

Posted 11.25.10

RE: TOMMASSO VOLO   The bike is not valid unless it is assembled by a professional mechanic. The stem is flippable +/- 7 degrees. Multiple, comfortable positions are obtainable and you may want to have that done while you are at the bike shop.

Bike Box   Robin, I have never owned a "woman's specific" bike and I have been a cyclist for many years. Most all bikes are really unisex in nature and what matters is how tall you and bike fit. Check out the bike size charts on any bike that you are looking at and make sure that you get one that matches your height. Go with the bike you like and have fun!

29ers for short riders?   Alice, I have the Sucker Punch and I think it is a good choice because of the hydraulic brakes. Hydraulic brakes are easier to pull for everyone but especially for those of us with smaller hands. It makes for easier and more confident one finger braking and allows you to keep a better grip on your handlebars for steering control. The Sucker Punch has a little better gearing as well but either 29er that you choose will provide lots of fun on the trails! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

29ers for short riders?   I am 5'4" and ride a 16" BAMF. It is a great fit and is so much fun! I haven't found it to be difficult to ride at all. I am fairly new to mountain biking and riding the 29er has made it extremely enjoyable. Those tires roll over everything even when I doubt my own handling skills. And on the flats.....WOW! Zoom zoom! I would highly recommend a 29er, even for the "vertically challenged." Good luck!

Design Matching   I don't think the stitching matches up really to either pair of shorts. The panel stitching on all Pearl Izumi products are placed where they are to help with the functionality and fit of the products. Either the Elite or P.R.O. road bike shorts are great. The biggest difference between the two is the 3D chamois on the Elite and the 4D chamois on the P.R.O. which is supposed to provide even more comfort while cycling. Either way, you can't go wrong. Pearl Izumi really makes great products!

Posted 10.18.10

Lengthy questions   Louis, Click on the sizing chart up above and you'll see the actual length of each size (i.e. medium is 25" long). Yes, these are leg warmers and not just knee warmers so they should cover from just inside your shorts down to your ankle, but I would take that measurement and compare it to the size chart to make sure. Also pay attention to the thigh and ankle measurements on the size chart. You may think that you wear one size and find out that you actually wear the size smaller than you though. The Pearl Izumi Thermafleece warmers are great!

Posted 10.18.10

Cold Legs need to be covered   Louis, if you decide to wear running tights and cycling shorts together, try the running tights on top of the shorts. That's what I have done. You should always have the chamois next to your skin. Any other fabric between the chamois and your skin would cause chafing for sure! P.S. it's starting to get colder out here as well.

How's the Fit   Louis, It looks like you are somewhat between sizes. I see the Bellweather sizing seems to be quite similar to Pearl Izumi so if you are happy with the way your other shorts fit then I would go with the same size. Maybe to narrow it down a bit more you could take your hip measurement and see where it falls within the sizing chart (click on the "Sizing Chart" above to see the Pearl Izumi size recommendations. If you end up liking the way Pearl Izumi shorts fit then you should definitely check out the Pearl Izumi bib shorts as well. They are AMAZING!

New stock?   Jake, We do not have any scheduled shipments of these coming in soon. Have you checked out the Fox Dirtpaw gloves? We have your preferred size/color combo available in those. I own a pair and love them! I do not ride motocross but I use them for mountain biking all the time. Happy shopping!

Tommaso Augusta Digger Track Bike    Edherson, I ride all types of bikes and I really enjoy my fixed gear! It take a little getting used to but if you are a confident cyclist the learning curve is super easy. I rode my Tommaso fixed gear for a while without a braking system and it can be a little tricky to handle, especially when you pick up speed. I recommend fixed gear riders install either a front or rear brake if they are planning on using the bike to ride around town. There are so many things (cars, people, dogs and potholes) that can jump out at you and it is nice for all parties to have a quick braking system. I'm all for being safe! Guaranteed you'll love either the Tommaso Digger or Tommaso Ninja!

Mounting system   Also, in the new photo the "handle" that is shown folds down flat so that the pump is uniform and long to fit right alongside your bike frame. The photo illustrates very well how when folded outward the pump will give you more leverage while in the process of filling your tires.

Posted 10.11.10

Mounting system   Jake, Thanks for your question which has prompted me to update and add additional information on this product! After checking on the actual pump in the back I have noticed that it is black in color (fixing the photograph now). This pump has a separate mounting device that screws into your water bottle holder on your bike frame. The pump then clamps into the mount and has an additional Velcro strap which can help secure the pump even more. As for your second question, it depends on the clearance of your bike frame. The pump's total length is 12" so if you have about 14" clearance on your frame then it should work great! Thanks for your question and I hope this was helpful!

Thoughts?   Chris, I'm fairly new to mountain biking but I have had a wonderful experience with testing out the Sucker Punch. You can read my review up in the review section. This bike handles really well and the large 29er tires are stout and reliable. I have had no problem with keeping the bike in control on rocky descents and I am simply amazed at how fast the Sucker Punch can move on the flats. The 29er tires really roll! I'd highly recommend this bike! It's simply a joy to ride! I'm riding it again today....and I can't wait.

Shorts or Bibs?

For me the comfort of fit of bibs far outweigh the inconvenience of the "nature break". It's a trade off. I love my bibs!
