I'm a proud member of the Giantnerd® Nerd Herd. I like to ride my fixie in the summer and snowboard in the winter. I recently started hiking and snowshoeing too which I am enjoying thoroughly.

earliest availability Some models are shipping 6/8 and some are shipping 6/21, Tommaso doesn't have the ability to do the per size that we do so it looks like they may have split the difference. Regardless of what Tommasos site says, what you see on our page is when the bike will ship.

Velocita Vs Modial Both those bikes are great bikes and definitely bikes that you both can grow into as you get deeper into the sport. It is tough to tell you which bikes specifically to get, I would base it on your budget - the more expensive you go the nicer bike and better deal you get but as beginners I wouldn't recommend going outside your budget.

Tommaso Bikes You should definitely check out Tommaso's Facebook as that will answer a lot of your questions. Tommaso bikes are made in the same factories as any brand name bicycle like Giant, Trek or Specialized in China. They design and test all of their bikes in Boulder, CO. The Facebook has all of this info plus you can ask them questions and they have lots of Tommaso riders answering peoples questions as well.

Couple questions at 5'11" I would recommend you go with the 56cm. It is easier to make a small bike feel larger by swapping out components than to make a large bike feel smaller. I think the 56cm will fit you well as a new rider though. Pedals do not come with the bike as most people already have pedals or have varying preferences for pedal/shoe combos.

GTR vs Corvo The main difference between this and the Corvo 2.0 is that this bike has Shimano 105 components while the Corvo has SRAM Apex components. It is really a matter of preference between Shimano and SRAM. The Corvo also has an FSA crankset and Alex wheels which combined with the SRAM components makes up way more than the $200 price difference. You will get more for your money with the Corvo but if you're on a budget then the GT GTR is the way to go.

Anbody know anything? I can't speak to the longevity of this bag in specific as it is relatively new however I have used the same Marmot bag for 10+ years up until recently when I got a new one. Marmot makes my favorite sleeping bags because of their rating system, when they say a bag is good to 20 degrees like this one, you KNOW it will be good at 20 degrees. There's no question about it. As for the body contour mapping - this only increases the warm in key areas where heat is needed, it doesn't diminish the bags warmth in any way.

The most durable messenger bag I've ever owned
I own 2 Chrome messenger bags, 1 of them is a citizen which I use the majority of the time and it has lasted me 4 years. The other is the kremlin which I used when I am hauling lots of stuff like groceries or 30 racks of PBR. The citizen is the perfect size for everyday use, I can carry my lock, a jacket, lunch, and a change of shoes with room to spare. The padded shoulder strap is fantastic for long rides and heavy loads. The organization within the bag is well thought-out, there is even access to the space between the liner and bag so you can hide stuff below the main compartment.

Great Value!
This bike is a great value. If you are looking for a new bike without having to eat ramen for the next 2 months to get it this is your new rig. The 6061 tubing isn't your typical circular tubing, it is shaped and looks awesome. Combined with the black gloss paint and minimal decals this bike aesthetically stands above all. You also get 4 decal sheets with your bike to add flare and make it your own style, good luck making any other bike unique without a crapload of work. Make this baby yours!

If you like 29er bikes...
If your anything like me your into 29er mountain bikes. The big wheels aren't for show or flash, they are for getting over bigger obstacles and having lower rolling resistance. If you're reading this you likely understand the benefit of 29ers though. So what makes the BAMF 29er different? Lots. To start the 6061 tubing isn't your typical circular tubing, it is shaped and looks awesome. Combined with the black gloss paint and minimal decals this bike aesthetically stands above all. You also get 4 decal sheets with your bike to add flare and make it your own style, good luck making any other bike unique without a crapload of work. More important than tube shape and decals is the performance and BAMF made this bike to perform. Decked out in SRAM components, RockShox Dart 3 fork, and Avid brakes this bike is ready to roll, literally.

FAST & FREE!
This bike ships free to your door, and will get there very quickly. Ironically (or not) this is bike fast and the feeling when riding it is one of freedom. Lame puns aside, this bike is top quality. Click the Specs tab which is right next to the description tab and you will see the details of the bike. Note the full carbon frame, and Dura-Ace component group, and proprietary Tommaso components . You honestly won't find a better frame build or component group in the industry.

So much bang for the buck!
The Tommaso D&D Blue Steel Track Bike is a lot of bang for a little buck, I'll let you put together the sultry joke for yourself. But joking aside the D&D is a high quality bike. The High Tensile Steel is what makes the bike so affordable but don't be fooled by the price, steel is real and that frame will last a lifetime, Tommaso warranties that it will. Click on the video, the first box in the Detail Views / Video to get the full scoop on the Zoolander inspired whip.

Chromoly Steel is Real, This Bike is a Beast!
I own this frame and have built the thing up with aerospoke wheels and mountain bike handlebars that are as wide as Texas. You can see the photo below. It is a strange setup for a track bike but I use it to commute around town and riding it feels like I'm riding a monster truck. The frame is chromoly steel that's built to last, this frame will honestly last you a decade or more assuming a car doesn't ruin it for you. The orange color seriously pops and I get compliments about it everywhere I go. Personally I love the minimal decals on the bike, the is the word Augusta on the chain stay and "Robusta Armatura D'Acciaio" on the seat tube which means Strong Steel Frame in Italian. 5 stars, I love riding this frame!

picking the right size bike
Shahen, the right size really depends on the bike model you're selecting however as a good rule of thumb at 6 feet tall you would want a 58cm.
A road bike that is great for commuting is the Tommaso Imola with Carbon Fork, after 11 miles of riding you will be really glad that you got the Carbon Fork because it will make the ride smoother. It isn't extremely expensive and the frame is durable 6061 aluminum which will make it last for years. You can see it here: http://www.giantnerd.com/tommaso-imola-with-carbon-fork-road-bike-beginner.html

Big Ups rotafix- How to take off a fixed cog without a chainwhip
Daveo,
I'm a big fixie nerd and I've found that without the proper tools the Rotafix doesn't get a strong enough hold, it can get you by in an emergency on the road but in now way would I say that it is a solution to keeping your cog on. You're correct on all the steps to get it off, but please get the proper tools to put it on. I have had my chain fall off my fixie which is in essence the same thing that would happen if the lockring and cog came loose, hoping a curb and bailing into the grass is not the way to go about stopping. Good luck!

Any comments on Diamondback Podium 3 road bikes
Steven,
The Diamondback Podium 3 is a nice road bike. It has Shimano 105 like you're looking for and also has carbon seat stays which is a nice bonus. As far as bikes that we offer I'd compare it to the Tommaso Monza, the main difference being those carbon seat stays on the Diamondback are not on the Monza. I noticed that the Monza is a whole $300 cheaper than the Diamonback which in the end will probably bring you more satisfaction than carbon seat stays but I know some people that would make that trade.
The last thing I wanted to point out was that Tommaso offers a Lifetime Warranty where I was unable to find Diamondbacks warranty for that bike. As always Giantnerd gives you 365 Day Returns, Nerd Dollars ($30 on the Monza), and Free Shipping. Good luck finding the right bike for you and be sure to give us a call if you need any help, 1.877.731.6051 is the number!

shoe sizing...different from company to company?
Charlie,
In general shoe sizing, especially cycling shoes, is nuanced but generally consistent. If you're a 46 in Shimano I would still recommend a 46 in Sidi or other brands. At Giantnerd we have a 365 Day Return policy so don't be afraid to get some shoes and send them back if they don't fit. I would also recommend trying some on and then buying once you know what works for you.

We have an email in our system that is supposed to be sent to every new user which details their account information as well as the features of Giantnerd such as our Loyalty Program, 365 Day Returns, etc. It also includes how to use our site like checking order history and creating a profile. I will look into the possibility of this not being sent out but it may have ended up in your spam folder so perhaps check again.
If you do find it let us know what you think of it, we would love to make it as usable as possible! Thanks again for your feedback!
Much Love!
