I've owned a GT sensor 1.0 for 2 years now and decided to try it in a 9er version. That gave me the unique advantage to move from a 26" bike to a 29" bike with minimal geometry differences. My first impression was it was tall and weird. My second ride I realized that different was what I was after since buying a duplicate of the same bike wouldn't' be worth much. On my third ride I was starting to embrace the tallness. By my 4th ride I found I had changed my line choice to match the abilities of the bike. I went over things that I would have gone around on my 26er. I've swapped back and forth and enjoy them both.

The bike itself is great! For the price you get a whole lot of bike. It's not the lightest bike on the block but it probably is at it's price point. I love the i-drive for pedal bob elimination. It does tend to get creaky and require some tinkering now and again. My old sensor is quiet now but the 9er is already creaking a little but I just haven't bothered to try and fix it yet. No big deal.

Bottom line, if you can pick this bike up at somewhere between 35-50% off the retail price it's a great deal. At full price there may be other comparable or better bikes out there but we don't pay full price here do we.

The rear shock has a full lockout and rebound damping adjustment. The reply by Jeff Lesser is wrong.

Great price deal, hard to beat a bike with all this features on any other brand bike, parts are good. Very happy with what I got for the price. Been a fan of GT for many years, I think the full suspension frame technology works very well.
I assembled the bike myself; receive it on the original manufacture box. The bike is almost full assembled, just make sure you follow the instructions and have a torque wrench to assure the critical bolts are tightened right.

It has been about three weeks since I received my sensor expert. First, the fit and finish are fantastic, the pics do not do it justice. The bike pops. Also, it literally took me 5 minutes to roll it out the door for a test, and it came 4 days early. Point for genus build and nerd shipping.

Initially the bike felt large and I put the seat all the way down. It is now back up, I am 5' 11" and the large frame is perfect. It is a big burly bike that rolls over everything in its path with impunity, and it soaks up bumps, ruts, whatever is in your path.

Next, I had no idea how awesome the suspension would be, and how this would change my speed and confidence on the trail. Additionally, I had no clue just how awesome suspension lockout is. My home trail is one my from my house, and this bike converts to a street bike with the flip of (2) switches.

The sLx gear set blows away my buddies deore set, and the double crank up front is way cooler than my old triple. Speaking of my buddy, I used struggle to keep up with him, and now the situation is reversed. The 29er is. Great equalizer.


My only issue was a pinch flat on the front. My bike shop said it was due to no tape on the front tire, but instead a non adhesive wrap that moved. They admonished me to bring in the rear, which i didn't and it is now not holding air. I am out. 2 tubes and tape, about 35 bucks at my shop. Nothing mind blowing, but if giantnerd wants to help a brother out then thanks in advance.

All in all, i friggen love this bike. It has inspired me to ride more and ride better. Giantnerd, I don't know how you put this deal together because I see what the competition is selling it for, but I sure am glad you did. There are a finite number of these 2012 bikes left. Don't contemplate yourself out of an awesome deal if you are on the fence. This is a crazy, unreal bargain. Thanks guys.

Today I took out my brand new gt 29r I bought from this site.. As someone else pointed out the sizing if you go by suggested measurements can be off/wrong.

I ordered an XLg since I have a 35" inseam but when I got the xlg it was to tall. I ended up ordering a Lg instead and it is perfect. So going a size down might be a great way right off.

The bike handles the bumps and jumps like a dream compared to my 26" FS. and the double chain ring up front wasn't a problem at all. In fact I was able to take most of the hills in 3rd or even 4th ring on the back vs big gear or #2 ring. It just climbed real easy.

Today was the first time I rode n snow and with the tires that came with the bike I did okay would be nice for a little bit more rubber but go them on the way. But even with the tires the bike just moved. Was awesome.

Suspension was plush and responsive. once I dialed in the forks and shock.

I love the bike and just thought I share the info. Thanks Giantnerd for making it all possible.

I just recieved the Sensor 9R Expert with the Genius Build. The overall quality of this bike, component level, and Giantnerd's price make this a great deal. For me the Genius build was well worth the price, everything comes pre-built, packaged and protected carefully and it's pretty much ready to go. They included all manuals for the bike and components, they even put a set of hex wrenchs in the box needed to install the handlebars. The attention to detail in Giantnerds process is obvious and appreciated.

The only thing I'd mention if you are considering this bike is to research all the measurements on the size chart carefully, not just the suggested height. This bike is big and has a high center of gravity in addition to the 29" wheels. As with all size charts they can't possibly account for everyones proportions. I am 5'10" with short legs. According to this chart I am a Large, luckily I ordered a Medium because of inseam measurement and standover height. I'm very glad I did as any larger probably would have been too big. If you are in-between sizes or have short legs like me you might want to choose the smaller size.

Overall I'm very happy with the bike and would recommend this bike or any bike purchase from Giantnerd to anyone.
