The 2011 GT Force 2.0 Mountain Bike features the same GT 6061-T6 Monocoque aluminum frame with Independent Drivetrain suspension that you will find on the Force 1.0 and Force 3.0. Giving you a full 6 inches of travel to work with this frame will take you anywhere on the mountain. The idea behind the Force frame is to be strong and stiff while saving the weight for the dumbbells in the gym.
All Mountain isn't just a phrase with the Force 2.0 either, it features a Rockshox Sektor TK Solo Air fork and the Fox Float RL Shock rear shock to give you a full 6 inches of travel so you can take the proverbial bull by the horns. Both ends of the suspension feature rebound dampening adjustability.
To match a frame so well thought out GT put SRAM components on this stallion such as the X7 front and rear derailleurs, X7 shifters, and S1400 crankset. What isn't Shimano is equally as durable and affordable: WTB Devo Race saddle, Alex wheels, GT branded and backed handlebar/stem, and Maxxis Ardent tires round out the components for a stellar package. Put all this together and the GT Force 2.0 truly is a force to be reckoned with.

Here goes! First off I am writing this review from my tablet so sorry about any tyops.
Just unboxed and put this bike together. It was shipped with genius build, Cooper built it.
All I needed to do was put the front wheel, handlebars, seatpost on.
On my initial ride everything operated as expected minus the seat wasn't bolted down as tight as it needed to be and ended up needing to be tightened down. The tip of the seat almost murdered my manhood.... There was no problems at all with the bike. Although, I am not convinced it was test ridden.
What I love!
The suspension is so much better than my 2007 Mongoose tiocali comp. The front is nice and plush, the rear provides everything you need for all mountain / xc. The brakes simply kill it. Shifters are solid as well as the derailers.
What is different than most bikes is the frame height and rider height. It felt a bit weird being higher up compared to the mongoose but it was so much more comfortable. The adjustable seat post needs to be lubed or it will not function as expected. Use a bit of fork lube and you are set. Having 2 gears up front doesn't concern me at all after that ride, the 10 speed rear takes care of it, and there is plenty of top end for this type of bike.
What I don't like. The handle bars are a bit uncomfortable. I will be getting a set of risers like what the mongoose had. The tires roll smooth but really don't have much sidewall protection they also stand really tall. Also the bike feels longer than other all mountain bikes I have ridden. It doesn't seem to turn as tight as the mongoose, but honestly its more than likley a rider thing.
Five stars. This bike is really killer for the price, you will not get a better bike for the money period.

good bike, nice performance, once u get the sag and rebound u want, bike runs smooth, only problem was my chain came out once on my first ride, other than that, good buy, good for the money u spend too, recommend it

I am considering the purchase of the GT Force 2 or 3 mountain bike. What size would you recommend for a person 5' 10". The sizing chart indicates this height to be at the top of the scale for a medium frame and at the bottom for a large. This being a full suspension bike, I am unsure of how frame size equates to the rest of the bike, i.e. standover height with sloping top tube, suspension compression etc.

I would recommend that you go with a medium, it will be easier to handle and it is also easier to make a small bike feel larger than it is to make a large bike feel smaller. The medium is without a doubt the right size for someone 5'10" assuming they have pretty normal length legs.

is the description of the front and rear suspension reversed? I don't know much about mountain bike and I want to make sure this bike has all of the components as in all the reviews.

I am 6' 4" about 230 ish.. Would the xl size suit me fine and are these good for xc type riding or are these more aimed at dh ? Thanks

Its marketed as an all-mountain bike, which would fall under the XC category. I I am 6'5" and 225 and personally like the Large, for a definite answer you would probably have to stop by a local shop and sit on it ride it around and see how it feels.

I personally would go with the Force 2.0 - it is a better bike and you won't remember the $200 difference when youre out there on the trail.

Yeah you could check out gt's catalog and as for if you should get this bike or the 3.0 I would say this: I just bought this bike and it's AMAZING! Giant Nerd had the best price hands down. Comparing between the 2.0 and 3.0, the 2.0 had much better specs worth well over the 200 dollar difference so if you're serious at all about mountain biking and want a mid-entry bike, this is it. Trust me I just researched for 3 weeks straight. Just ask yourself if you need the better components or if you wanna replace parts later, otherwise, buy this bike.

in the description it says the fork is fox but in the photo you can see is a rockshox the same thing with the force 3.0 what fork does this bikes really have?

They accidentally mixed up the rear shock with the front aka: Rockshox Sektor TK 150mm is the Fork and Fox Float RL is the rear shock.
