BAMF stands for exactly what you think it does. BAMF bikes are the brass pole in the club where the real action happens! If you ride a bike, really ride a bike, you know the cold burn on your face in the winter, the sound of hitting the ground and the tingle of a bloody knuckle. You don’t ride so you can put an ornament on your SUV or to get a frappuccino hoping to be seen…You hunt those types down on the trail and smirk as you rip past leaving them and their GPS and sunblock keychain wondering what the hell happened?

All the BAMF bikes are black (like the guys at BAMF are going to fight over color pallets) and come with minimal decal (sticker packs are not included). Bikes are a permanent fixture in their life and they pour that passion into their work. The Kimura is the top of the line aluminum offering from BAMF.

The BAMF Kimura is a double butted BAMF Bad Ass 6061 aluminum 29er ready to hit it and get it! From the RockShox Reba RL fork to the SRAM 3x10 components BAMF has this bike dialed. BAMF spent over a year getting the geometry just right. Some of those bandwagon types with the huge head tubes (up to 140mm???!!!) didn’t do their homework…they just rushed out a 29” wheeled bike hoping to get your wallet open. You could call them to let them know but they don’t have a customer service phone number…nice customer support! The big wheels have gained popularity and for a good reason. Riders are accepting the fact that big wheels roll over rough terrain better…and faster! Rolling on a 29er makes you wonder why they weren’t popular sooner. They flat out haul on the trail.

The Kimura starts with a superlight and responsive BAMF Bad Ass 6061 double butted aluminum racing frame. The RockShox Reba RL suspension fork with Motion Control damping and lockout has a tall (29er humor) reputation for performance. The SRAM X.9 trigger shifters are paired with the SRAM X.9 rear derailleur and SRAM X.7 front derailleur providing a precise shifting partnership. At your fingertips you will also find the Avid Elixir 3 hydraulic brakes. One finger (the middle being our favorite) braking keeps more digits on the grips. The SRAM S1000 crank with GXP Gutter Seal Technology reduces seal drag and increases bearing life. This bad boy cranks sports 3 rings (44/33/22) for a 3x10 combination to tackle all terrains. The throne for this whip is the BAMF MTB saddle adding a nice touch of comfort for even the hardest of riders out there to appreciate. 

The BAMF Frame
The BAMF’s foundation is lightweight BAMF Bad Ass 6061 double butted aluminum creation with replaceable derailleur hanger, disc tabs and 1-1/8” integrated headset and water bottle mounts. The BAMF 29er geometry is tweaked to get the widest variety of body sizes on board. BAMF paid close attention to the head tube lengths to keep the front end low in conjunction with the taller wheels. Too many other companies just slapped any old head tube on their bikes and they ride like an old tricycle. The Kimura rocks the RockShox Reba RL 29er fork with 80mm of travel for the perfect balance for the 29er geometry. The frame has a 27.2 seat post diameter and a 68mm English threaded bottom bracket. The head tube is designed to accept IS-2 standard threadless 1-1/8” bearings.

The BAMF Fit
Sizing a 29er bike is no different, or more difficult, than any other style of bike. By reviewing the size chart you will see a measurement called the “Eff Top Tube”, also known as the Effective Top Tube Measurement. This is what the top tube would measure if it was parallel to the ground. It is an imaginary line the runs from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube if the seat tube was extended like a traditional frame. The size chart also lists suggested heights for the different frame sizes. This is far more helpful in sizing a bike than standing over the top tube and pulling up on the handlebars (which tells you nothing about the fit of a bike-it just hurts the undercarriage). BAMF offers four sizes to accommodate riders large and small. It will be easy to find a fit for all of our customers. The stem can also be flipped and adjusted for a lower back-friendly position to a more streamline position in minutes. The lower top tube keeps the center of gravity low and the makes for an easy approach to getting on the bike and railing the corners. This BAMF bike was designed with the user’s needs and comfort as the #1 priority.

The BAMF Feel
The BAMF crew spent a lot of time getting this frame right. The geometry has been tweaked to improve stand over for riders and keep the front end low. The bigger wheel size raises the center of gravity but BAMF found a way to keep the bike low and lively. You will immediately feel the difference in speed on the trail. The larger footprint in the corners will have you carving at higher speeds on the WTB Nano-Raptor tires. Ruts, rollers and dips are all but erased with the increased circumference of the wheel. The SRAM X.9 trigger shifters guide you through the gears with confidence and ease while the Avid Elixir 3 hydraulic brakes provide sure stopping power when it is needed.  The best test is to take your new 29er out to your favorite trail and immediately you will discover the speed and handling difference. Do us a favor and really stick it to your friends!
