it's not as fast as a regular pump, but it's good for emergencies. mine is going strong, but a friend of mine has this same pump and had to retire it 5 months ago after about 7 months of light use.

IMHO, a frame pump should be practically built into every bike. I have this pump and it has saved me a very long walk on more than one occasion when I burned through the 2 CO2 cartridges I always carry.

I have a road bike and here are some of the uses I have found thus far:
- I use the 'low' setting to try and top off a tire that seems to have a slow leak before committing to pulling off the tire
- I use the 'high' setting to inflate the tube I am removing to try and find the source of the puncture
- I use the 'high' setting to slightly inflate the new tube I am inserting to help it seat better into the tire and avoid pinch flats
- I use the 'high' setting to inflate the tube once the tire is back on, before I pull out the CO2 to finish the job
- If I am out of CO2 cartridges, or when helping a fellow cyclist, I use the 'low' setting to get the tire up to ~100psi

All these uses allow me to carry smaller/lighter CO2 cartridges and I burn through far fewer each season, making this frame pump a fantastic investment that has paid for itself many times over.

An additional note it that although it is light, it still counts as 'training weight' that can be easily removed for shorter races where I am not concerned about getting stranded.

My overall experience with Blackburn has been positive, I have used the same old black blackburn pump on my mountain bikes for over ten years and it continues to function well.

This pump takes it to the next level with all sorts of technology to decrease the time to get you tire filled and get you back on the trail.
