A tubular tire is a style of racing tire that where the the tube of the tire is hand stitched around the inner tube. The combination of the tubular tire/tube are then hand glued to a specially designed rim. A tubular tire/wheel is an overall lighter combination than a clincher counterpart. Plus, tubular tires can run much lower tire pressures for better control and traction on rough conditions found in the spring classics or in a cyclcocross race. Tubulars or Tubies are only used in road bike, time trial and cyclocross racing as if you get a flat the tire must be removed from the rim and another tubular tire must be glued to the tubular rim.
